The work of the State in the conservation of marine-coastal protected natural areas

In Peru, the conservation of marine species is still far from being categorized as excellent, since the sea is only protected in less than 0.5%. One of the factors that causes this difficulty is that the relevant entities are focused on the preservation of land resources. In addition to the exploitation of resources, another problem is pollution, which is not only present in the garbage that is thrown into the sea or the sewage that flows into it, but also microplastics, which are difficult to detect due to their size (5mm).
On the other hand, fishing is carried out in a controlled manner, since reports of fishing activity are presented on a daily, monthly and quarterly basis. These reports control industrial and artisanal landings of various marine species, such as anchovy, bonito, sardine, horse mackerel, mackerel, mahi mahi, among others; However, this control does not eliminate the fact that illegal fishing is carried out in the Peruvian sea. Precisely, the figures that these reports show about fishing could constitute 25% less than what is actually extracted. This situation has an impact on the preservation of the species because their reproductive cycle and livelihood are altered and the lack of control exercised by the authorities regarding this problem is evident.
In summary, the lack of commitment of Peruvian State entities in the face of poaching activities of which marine species are victims, as well as the reality regarding the little awareness that individuals show in relation to the preservation of species and The legal loopholes that usually arise in these cases mark the starting point of the deplorable reality in which the sea finds itself. This topic is addressed in this work, explained with scientific research.
