Environmental education and the negative impact of artisanal mining

Environmental impact is a problem that affects the entire planet. Their ecosystems, which have provided resources to human beings throughout their history, have received the main liabilities of their effects, these being caused mainly by human action. One of the activities that contribute to this is precisely mining as a whole. Mineral extraction alone implies a significant change in the ecosystem, from its predation to its disappearance.
Mining is one of the flagship economic activities of Peru and other countries in the Latin American region that clearly has an impact on all ecosystems in this part of the globe. But also one in its practitioners, the miners, who dedicate entire days of work to the extraction and purification of these minerals. Even more so when this work is artisanal, which means no, if not little, presence of technology and favorable conditions for both the environment and health. All these shortcomings are added to the lack of environmental education on the part of these workers who simply work in an unsustainable and environmentally risky regime. This book takes into consideration the relationship between education and miners' considerations about negative environmental impact.
