Solid waste management methods as a basis for household waste management

Due to the negative effect of solid waste, several nations have a management model for such waste, which seeks to ensure that each waste is appropriately used and that sustainable development is achieved, considering environmental care. This management is essential to prevent solid waste from being parked in places where ecosystems develop, such as the sea, rivers, forests, deserts and others. A system that involves this solid waste management is designed with the purpose of creating a scenario of environmental protection and where living conditions are better. When this management becomes inappropriate, it can cause multiple damages to cities and their inhabitants. Therefore, the management provided to solid waste must contemplate appropriate activities in order to contribute to the preservation of the biotic and abiotic resources of the blue sphere. This management may require methods that are focused on improving the management of solid waste, specifically waste generated in homes, in order to generate better treatment and marketing of household waste that can be reused.
Of the above, the management of solid waste stands out. This management is all that agglomeration of actions dedicated to influencing each stage of the life of a waste. This management is linked to the management of solid waste, therefore, it also covers stages of collection, transportation and final disposal of the same. This entire set of activities, in turn, is implemented with management methods that enable better treatment of solid waste.
The methods of treatment and exploitation of solid waste can be recycling, biological methods (biogas production), incineration, disposal in landfills and even conversion to electricity and others. These methods are used within waste management. By serving in management, it is evident that they form an essential part in the management of solid waste and household waste.
Therefore, it is evident that the management and handling of solid waste, with attention to household waste, are two essential processes in public management carried out by the various municipal, local and regional authorities, given that these processes are decisive in identifying the level at which the accumulation of waste can impact the environment.
For all the above, it is vital to have essential notions about solid waste and its characteristics, the management of this waste, the methods that allow improving the management of said waste and a strategic model (as a proposal) that serves to be applied in the government institutions.
